National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong, also known as National is a Public Institute, established in 2008. National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong Admissions are based on Merit-based & Entrance Tests. The college accepts the NIFT Entrance Exam for B.Des, the NIFT Entrance Exam for MFM.

Two scholarships and financial assistance schemes are available at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong. The two scholarship schemes are-

Eligibility Criteria for National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong Scholarships 

SARTHAK

Students with master's and bachelor's degrees can apply for this scholarship scheme at the Shillong National Institute of Fashion Technology. However, the income of their parents must fall under any of the counts mentioned below-

Up to Rs 1.5 Lakh

Above Rs 1.5 Lakh up to Rs 2.5 Lakh

Above Rs 2.5 Lakh up to Rs 4.0 Lakh

Also, to avail of this scholarship (in the second, third, fourth year of UG and second year of PG), students have to maintain the SGPA of at least 6.00 for the two previous consecutive semesters. 

UDAAN

International students from an economically weak backgrounds can avail this scholarship. 

Craft Bazaar 2022: 

Craft Bazaar is an innovative initiative of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) held every year with charm and delight. The theme of Craft Bazaar 2022 at the campus is "Empowering North East crafts through Design Intervention. The event for the Shillong campus took place on the Umsawli campus on April 29 and 30, 2022. It took place from 11 am to 7 pm. Nagaland Jewelry, Kouna Craft, Black Pottery of Longpi Manipur, Embroidery and Crochet, Wood Carving, Woodwares, Terracotta, Cane and Bamboo jewellery and products, Dry Flowers, Handloom, Hand-printed textiles, etc., were some of the main components of the prestigious event. Navisha Rai designed the event. The two-day craft bazaar brought together 24 artisans all over the North East region. The NIFT event was a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav and North East Festival, and at the event, the students presented unique North-East costumes. 

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong Courses, and Fees

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Meghalaya requires passing in 10+2 with a valid score for admission in undergraduate programs and acquiring graduation in any field for postgraduate programmes. However, appearing in the NIFT Entrance Examination is necessary for admission to the institution. The candidates obtaining higher scores in the entrance examination will be given preference to secure admittance in their intended course from their desired campus. The application procedure for NIFT Entrance Examination is entirely online, and candidates can also pay fees online. The process for applying for the NIFT Entrance exam, 2023 is mentioned below-

• On the options at the top of the website, you can find the option "Admissions". Click on the option.
• As you land on the admissions page, scroll down a little, and you will find the option "REGISTER FOR NIFT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION". If you are a new user, click sign-up. Then register on the website.

How to Fill the Application Form?

• In the application form, fill up your details, residential details, academic details, etc.
• Then you have to select your preferred test centre in the application form.
• You must upload the required documents in the application form. 
• You should pay the application fees as you complete all the necessary steps to fill up the application form. 
• Candidates should take a printout of the payment information as well as of the application form for any future reference. 
• Before paying the fee for the application, candidates can edit any information in the application form in case they have made any mistakes. After paying the application fee, the candidate can edit no information. If a candidate does not check well before making the payment, any kind of mistake may lead to the candidate's disqualification. 

NIFT Shillong Application Fee

Students have to pay the application fee for the entrance examination of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The application fees may vary as per the category of students. 

In the case of General/Other Backward Classes (non-creamy)/General-Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), the application fee is Rs 3,000. 

In the case of the scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/PwD category, the application fee is Rs 1,500.
